As Destination Toronto celebrates 100 years, the city is looking ahead: building upon a century of hospitality with world-class venues, global connectivity, and new possibilities for meetings.

For a century, Destination Toronto has connected visitors and event organizers with Canada’s largest city. As the organization celebrates its 100th anniversary, Toronto is pairing up that legacy of hospitality with a decidedly forward-looking approach to business events.

The city entered the year on a global stage, hosting six FIFA World Cup 2026 matches and welcoming event marketing leaders for PCMA’s CEMA Summit. Now, Destination Toronto is extending its international reach with new offices in the U.K. while embracing technology through 6ix, its AI-powered travel tool.

For meeting planners, that momentum is backed by serious infrastructure and exceptional connectivity. Two international airports connect Toronto to approximately 200 destinations across 55 countries, while more than 135 million people live within a 90-minute flight.

At the heart of downtown, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC), Canada’s leading convention facility, offers more than 442,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space, 77 meeting rooms, multipurpose ballrooms and a state-of-the-art theater.

Its central location puts attendees within walking distance of hotels, restaurants, entertainment, and attractions, making it easier to experience the city beyond the meeting room.

Toronto’s intellectual capital adds another dimension. Strengths in the artificial intelligence, life sciences, financial services, technology, and advanced manufacturing fields give planners opportunities to connect programs with local experts, research institutions and business communities.

Destination Toronto helps make those connections while supporting planners with services ranging from site visits and venue sourcing to the 6ix Stack, Destination Toronto’s unique integrated event-support program. The city itself brings a distinctly global perspective: More than half of Toronto’s population was born outside Canada, with approximately 250 ethnicities and 180 languages and dialects represented.

After 100 years, Destination Toronto’s next chapter will be about continuing to welcome the world and finding new ways to help people connect once they arrive.
