The resulting comments reinforce many of the survey’s quantitative findings, highlighting concerns around staffing levels, workload sustainability, career advancement, flexibility, leadership, and organizational support.
1. Staffing & Workload
“Full buy-in from leadership to properly staff our team. We’re managing an annual conference plus a dozen regional events with a skeleton crew…”
“Backfill the coordinator role we lost. Right now I’m doing planning, logistics, and client communication for multiple major accounts…”
2. Career Path
“A clear career path with transparent promotion criteria…”
“Being promoted to accurately reflect the work that I currently do.”

3. Flexibility & Work-Life Balance
“Actual protected recovery time after big events. Right now, I’m back at my desk the next morning answering emails, and my team is exhausted.”
“Less workload and end the expectation of being resilient.”
4. Leadership & Culture
“I have to justify my department’s purpose for existing each week…”
“Better communication by leadership as to how the events team’s role fits into the overall objectives of the organization.”
5. Recognition
“More autonomy, less decision-making by committee or exec staff.”
“Leadership respecting and supporting the events team. I have to justify my department’s purpose for existing each week…”
